HSMP TIER 1 GENERALVISA- changes from April 6 2010 in India

Changes to the new HSMP tier 1 will come on force in India from 6 April, 2010 . Well, does it spell trouble for HSMP applicants. Not really - it makes certain things more objective.

CURRENT POINT SYSTEM UNDER TIER 1 (BEFORE April 6 2010), POINTS TO SCORE = 75 from this + 10 mandatory points for English and 10 mandatory points for Maintenance

Education

Masters = 35

PHD = 50 (45 after April 6 2010)

Graduation = 30 (No more pts)- WILL GET 30 POINTS after April 6.2010

AGE

27 before 28th birthday = 20

28 till before 30th birthday = 10

30 till before 32nd birthday = 5

After that = 0

BONUS

5 points bonus on prior UK experience or education based on some minimum conditions to be specified. Call us for details. This is complex and if you are claiming this on basis of UK experience you will have had to have claimed some points for earnings in UK.

Earning Power (For earnings in India )- NOTE : SEE TABLE ABOVE THIS TABLE FOR EARNING REQUIREMENT COMPARISION - Pre April 6 2010 / Post April 6 2010

[ Take prior consecutive 12 month period out of any 15 month period , from completed month before APPLYING]

i.e In last 12 of last 15 months from JOB or Business

Multiply by 5.3 x [Salary before tax or deduction in this period]

Convert this value into pounds by using spot exchange rate on date of credit of last payslip in www.oanda.com and compare it against the Slab below to get your earning points in HSMP

Hurray, you got 35 points. NOTE : This is the current slabs table that will change from 06 April ' 10 , See the impact table on top.

Notes: If you were stationed in India and received salary in India. Some complex rules apply if you are partly in India and partly elsewhere for the last 12 months. Call us if in doubt. There are mandatory rules on how these earnings will be verified. This information is still fluid. We will keep you posted.

MBA Category

This has been reinstated though was initially suspended. But only top MBA schools Internationally allowed and some cutoff date.

.MANDATORY - Score 10 Points in English. Note - English language letters from University of Bachelor's degree may not be enough now. Please consider this carefully. IELTS 6.5 or more is required. In case your degree appears in points calculator database, you NEED NOT go for IELTS, TOEFL

MANDATORY - Score 10 points in MAINTENANCE Criterion - level of funds required at time of application. Not alarming as generally these level of funds are anyways prescribed to applicants. Should be maintained for 3 months without even one day falling below the prescribed limit.
